(FCE Use of English Part 4) Some of the lines in this exercise are correct; others have a word which should not be there. Which lines are correct? Which are wrong, and what is the unnecessary word. 01. Mr Fred Harris decided to leave from home. He had been unemployed 02. for three months. His wife was getting more and more angry. 03. He could not go on with any longer. So, one Wednesday morning, 04. he packed together a small suitcase and left his home in Newcastle. 05. He went on to the railway station and, when 06. after buying a platform ticket for five pence, boarded on the express train 07. to London. Fred was hungry, so he borrowed a waiter’s jacket 08. he found that hanging behind a door in the dining carriage. 09. He went into a lavatory and put on the jacket. From then he went back 10. to the dining car. He hoped, he said that, to get a quick snack. However, he was seen 11. by the head waiter, who said to him: Where have you been? 12.
