Answers. These are quite easy and an advanced student should have little difficulty in getting them all right.
1. In protest, he wrote an open letter to the prime minister which was published in all the newspapers.
2. As far as free trade is concerned, the open door is slowly shutting.
3. The prosecution had an open and shut case, so the trial was a pure formality.
4. Everyone knew about it. It was all open and above board.
5. Of course, we are always open to an offer, but it would have to be a good one.
6. They were glad to see us. They greeted us with open arms.
7. He is a generous sort of fellow, very open-handed.
8. These days it is a good idea to keep an open mind: you never know who is right and who is wrong.
9. They are very hospitable. They keep open house.
10. It is nice to get out of town and into the open air.
