A YOUNG CONSUMER

01. Miss Susie Jenner is nine years old only

02. and lives in Los Angeles. Her teachers do describe her

03. as being most very determined. Susie went to a slot machine

04. for some of sweets called Rainbow Sugar Candles. She put ten cents

05. in the slot and got just a packet. She found, however,

06. that the packet contained not only 35 Sugar Candles,

07. as did the package displayed on the very outside

08. of the machine, but only seven Sugar Candles. Also,

09. the candles were advertised as being of all colours

10. of the rainbow, but her pack was contained only red and yellow ones.

12. Clearly, it was five colours too short.

13. Susie immediately took a bus to the Attorney-General of California

14. and made herself a complaint of false advertising against

15. the Happy Days Vending Machine Company. As a result,

16. the company was fined $2,000.
