Less than 8 correct: level 1
Less than 18 correct: level 2

Beginning Levels, to Pre-intermediate
Levels 1 to 3 are beginner levels, the result of one to six weeks of intensive study, or of 30 to 200 hours of occasional study.
Level 1. Beginner. After 20 to 30 hours of study, a few words and phrases. ("Good afternoon." "Thank you.")
Level 2. Basic Tourist. After a two-week intensive course, or about 100 hours of study, able to ask some limited questions. ("Please, how much is a Big Mac?")
Level 3. Adequate Tourist (or High School Basic). After four to six weeks of intensive study, or 200 to 300 hours part-time, able to tell the time, ask for directions and follow simple instructions. ("When does the pub/museum/supermarket open?" "Where is the Tower of London?")
