SELF-ASSESSMENT TEST: LEVELS 7 TO 9
As you may have (1) heard (learnt) through local government agencies, we are (2) holding (planning, organising, arranging) a conference in New York, sponsored by the World Bank, in order to exchange (3) information (NOT ideas, thoughts) about resources and potential investment in Eastern Europe. In (4) particular (NOT addition), we wish to bring (5) together investment consultants from the Wall Street financial markets and representatives of leading Eastern European industries to, we hope, their (6) mutual (common) benefit.
Recognising your success (7) in modernising the Czech paper and pulp industry and expanding it (8) into a dynamic exporter worldwide, we are privileged to ask you to (9) be our (10) guest (keynote, NOT principal, main) speaker at a luncheon to be (11) held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York on August 24. We would be pleased if you could (12) give a talk of about one hour, and be kind (13) enough to answer questions (14) afterwards.
Besides first class travelling (15) expenses and two days’ (16) accommodation (correct spelling essential) at the Waldorf, we would pay an (17) honorarium of $5,000. We need hardly add that (18) such a meeting will serve to (19) bring the operations of the Czechoslovak paper and pulp industry to the attention of an interested group of potential investors.
